Update...

How are you guys doing? As for me? I have a lot to update you guys about and to tell you. I have a story for you! First things first, if you read the news daily and know what Photobucket did, then you already know. Or if you have visited my blog since last Friday...you know just to drop by and see how we're doing over here. Then I am sure you noticed my blog looked like crazy town!!! Let me start at the beginning. Where I left ya'll last. See last Thursday... I mentioned to you guys, I was looking forward to the weekend. Frankly last week was quite busy for all of us in our family and we all needed some rest, so we were all looking forward to the weekend. I also mentioned the next day, Friday I had an extremely lengthy hair appointment. To get my hair straightened. Because you know how... humid Japanese summers are...and with my natural thick wavy hair...if I don't get it straightened every 3-4 months. I start to look like Side Show Bob (from the Simpsons) if I don't get it done. So last Friday was a regular Friday. Nothing really to tell really. I made a fast breakfast for the kids... packed 2 lunches for my kids to take to their respective schools. And I vacuumed downstairs, swooshed the downstairs toilet. I checked on the cubed beef that was in the crock pot since the night before. See, I knew I would be gone all day Friday and well...we needed dinner... plus it had to be super easy since I was going to be out all day, so I skillet fried the lean beef and then threw it in my crock pot with water. So, a nice beef stew was perfect. I did run upstairs take a quick shower, threw my makeup on real quick. and got myself to the hair salon. I asked for the straightest hair possible, they already know that, lol...and the teeniest tiniest trim ever. They did that. They gave me iced coffee. 2 massages. And I am now done hair wise, until mid September. Noboru was meanwhile home enjoying his day, with his drone in the backyard and keeping an eye on my beef in the crock pot. I ran home. Didn't get online. I just had enough time to grab a bottle of jasmine tea out of the fridge. And go and get Bran from the train station. I was about 6 minutes early. And so, I sat in my car and decided it was a good time to flip quickly through my emails. Two girl friends emailed, 1 in Japan and 1 in my home state. I made a mental note to reply as soon as I got home. One email from a family member. One email from Gap, lol. And 1 that looked like junk. Hmm, how come it didn't go directly into my spam folder? It was from Photobucket. I quickly clicked and spot/scan read it...because frankly I thought...this isn't for me. It's junk. So here I am reading....TOS (terms of service) rules have changed. Yada yada yada. They no longer allow 3rd party hosting, blah blah blah. I am wondering...what in the heck is 3rd party hosting anyways? Like seriously! Sounds weird. So, here I am spot reading again....yada yada yada. And it said...3rd party hosting I. E. pics on blogs, forums, Ebay. I was just about to delete... but it said...blogs. Hmm. Yes, I do have a blog. So, I am now wondering if this is legit...as in real. If so will this affect me at all? I'm not alarmed at this point at all. That came much later. Bran gets in my car. I smile and ask him about his day while driving to pick up Noah from school immediately afterwards last Friday. Now I have both kids in the car. Somehow though....this Photobucket email is gnawing at me a bit. Noboru and Bran had a plan to go to the barber ASAP, after Bran got home. So, as soon as I pulled into my parking space. Bran and Noboru leave to get haircuts. Noah is doing his homework in the kitchen and his hair grows tons slower than Bran's. I now throw the beef stew into a pan on the stove. And go quickly back to my home computer to reread that email from Photobucket. Little known fact. I do not keep my pictures on Flickr or Photobucket. I also do not keep them on my computer either. I keep my pictures in an external hard drive. I also have a backup for these on my private google drive or whatever that's called. However...I remember the amazingly nice lady who created my blog, did upload my blog pictures via Photobucket. So, the email after I am sitting down at home. Sounds serious. So, I go to my blog, for the first time of the day. Oh and I received this email around 1:36pm Japan time last Friday. First time I ever got a single word from Photobucket. No communication about this before this. So, I go to my blog and it looks insane! As in...looks absolutely bananas! It looked like this, pictured up above. I now had these hideous big huge black squares. Asking me to upgrade my account. I got no advanced warning. They just did this. And now it looked all completely eff-ed up! Okay so now...the panic sets in. However...I still have supper to do. I still have regular life... going on here at my house. So, I go to the kitchen. Noah is quietly doing his homework. And I am cutting my vegetables. I am angrily cutting mushrooms. Angrily peeling potatoes and angrily dicing up onions. Noah asks me..."What's wrong mama?" Bless his heart. I said..."it's not any of you, I'm upset because a company where I had beautiful pictures of you and your brother at the top of my blog, which is called my header are completely jacked up.  I used to see you and Bran... every time I'd visit my blog and I'd smile and now I just see chaos and big huge black boxes. I'm angry because they gave mommy absolutely no notice at all. If they were going to be fair...they could have emailed everyone June 1st and say...attention everyone at the end of June you will no longer be able to host your pics on here for blogs, Ebay, forums etc. I just feel it was very sneaky and underhanded." Noah said, I don't think they sound very nice and I said, I agree, they apparently aren't very nice at all. So, I made up my mind. Not to bring this to up and drone on about it to the kids. They lightly knew about the Photobucket problem. And did go and check my blog, a couple times during the weekend. I Lined Noboru at the barber and told him. This picture here is what my blog looked like last Friday.

#2, it didn't just happen to me. It happened to millions of people worldwide. We had a nice dinner Friday. And after supper. Noboru opened up his laptop to find out some info. And I opened up my computer too. What we found out. Is most techie boards were *strongly* urging people to move their pictures from Photobucket immediately. So, that was the best thing I did. I was able to move my header and all the bits that make my blog...my blog, Friday after supper. I read the next day Saturday. Photobucket was now locking the pics and not letting anyone move or have access to their pictures anymore. Which is just nuts. I am just glad that I moved my stuff Friday ASAP.  Because I was fast enough... they didn't even get a chance to lock my stuff down. And my stuff is not locked down even now, but I can't link from there. But so many folks...their stuff is locked. Next, I checked and read the new TOS (terms of service) 3 times. And I wouldn't have minded paying a little fee for the benefit of using their place. However, only their most expensive plan is allowing 3rd party hosting. And that is $400 US. That's 45,000 yen for you in Japan! To get the privilege to do 3rd party hosting on PB, you would have to give them $400 US every 12 months. There are mass amounts of threads and this is a screenshot of 1 person saying..."The amount they are asking for just seems unreasonable" Yes..I agree 45,000 yen, every 12 months. Is extortion. It's high way robbery. It's blackmail. Especially for the ones whose pics got locked. Lucky I got mine off last Friday.

You can read the words right here, someone talking about their accounts being locked. Yes many did get their accounts locked and their pictures are being held hostage, so to speak.

Another person screenshot-ed what her blogs says...the big ugly black square. And she did indeed say $400 a year. It went from free to 45,000 yen a year. That's insane. That's beyond insane actually!

This is an actual brilliant article and this guy is right...Photobucket did break image links all across the Internet. And all last weekend the effects were still rippling. Even now there's still ripples from this.

See what that brilliant man above wrote.... And he's 100% right...saying the worst part is...see the 2nd line..."users were apparently given no warning" He's absolutely correct. They just did it with zero notice. And they only emailed everyone AFTER...after they made every one's links no longer accessible.

You should see the tweets PB is getting on Twitter. And rightly so! This person is a rockstar for saying what everyone else was feeling! "This doesn't answer the question why you went from free to $400/year with no warning" And the person below that comment chimed in...Again they too can't get over they gave no warning. And frankly...I can't get over that fact too. To have such disrespect and disregard for their customers. Just to break a link. Rather than give someone a 30 day heads up. Hell...even a weeks notice... would have been fine. You know....my plan last weekend? Was to rest and recharge my batteries. Like I told you guys...we still have about 3 weeks of school still. And the kids are fried. I'm fried. We're all frazzled and ready for summer break. Or at least a restful weekend, ykwim. And to start my weekend last Friday like this?! I mean...really? Even if PB were to say they were sorry right now...and they took it back and now you can keep pics there and link back. Forget it. The trust is totally gone. How could you ever trust them again after that? I couldn't.

This was such a sad Tweet to PB. You gave ZERO notice and you ruined 178 of their Ebay listings. You are extortionists. You are EVIL. You know what...I'm just a mommy blogger. I write from my own perspective in my little town in Japan. I love my blog as a keepsake for my children to look back on... when they're older. It also is a way for my family in America to keep up to date with me. And a way for Noboru's fam in Osaka to keep up to date with us too, they also read here too, which makes me happy. But...there were people like this person...who genuinely make their living on Ebay. And those people were the most hurt! They gave none of us *any* notice. They just made our links void. And basically jacked up a whole bunch of peoples weekends. So...that's my story. And that's why...if you went to visit me on my blog last weekend to just say...hey Gina, what's up! That's why it looked nuts! I'm sorry guys. It's not something I had any control over. It was just one of these absolutely sh*tty things that happened. And I was one of the millions affected and who was left to deal with the aftermath. And to pick up the pieces.
This is my external hard drive. I keep an external one... because computers crash all the time. Mine hasn't. But my last computer crashed about 10 years ago and all my pics vanished. Luckily for me...my husband was able to rescue the pics and move them to an external hard drive. So that way...if my computer ever should crash...my pics would not be affected at all. And of course they're all backed up online. In a private storage where I pay a small yearly fee for that service.
I made it a point to have a normal Saturday and normal Sunday last weekend. At 9pm each night, is when Noboru and I started to fix things blog wise. But I didn't want my kids to have a lousy weekend because of what PB did to my blog. I wasn't going to let them affect us... in that way. And they didn't. Saturday morning, as soon as the rest of my family woke up... I still made strawberry pancakes with whipped cream and strawberry toppings. We also had strawberries in the batter too. My kids love these strawberry pancakes, we have enjoyed these 3 weekends in a row. : )

We also watched Beauty and the Beast Saturday night. We all loved it! And we watched Star Wars The Force Awakens with popcorn and snacks too, Sunday afternoon. I made supper every night. An easy one. And washed every one's uniforms on Saturday.

So now here's more info on my blog. And what things and problems we faced. #1, I am a firm believer that everyone/person on this earth has a talent or a strength. You know what I mean. Things folks are good at. For example. My kids excel at swimming. They're native English speakers which is pretty common and run of the mill in the US, but it's actually amazing since they live here in Japan. I am good at makeup. I know makeup. I know what's hot. What's not. I can talk for hours about makeup. Help you pick out makeup. May be a weird thing to excel at. But hey. : ) I'm also a fairly good cook. Granted, I'm no Gordan Ramsey. But, I do pretty good. My husband has many many talents. He's very good at lawn care. He has a green thumb. He's kind. He's the kindest person, I have ever met. I digress. But...I am not computer savvy. HTML, coding? Ha! I decided about 9 years ago I wanted to make my blog designed with my kids in mind. I hired a brilliant and amazing lady. She made me a custom blog. I am very positive and happy most of the time. I love my life here in Japan. Love my husband and kids. And I wanted a bright happy colorful blog to reflect that. Not insane. But happy and chipper, for sure. She made it exactly perfect. I couldn't have imagined a...more fitting or more perfect blog that reflected my cheerful family. After she made my blog, I never spoke to her again. Because I was a client. Not a friend. But, I was super happy. At the time, she had no access to my pictures that I had wanted to use for my header or the pics along my side bar. And I should have emailed them to her and I mentioned if I could email them to her. But she asked me to make a photobucket account, that way we (her and I) could access them. And she said once my blog is finished, for me to change the password so she wouldn't be able to access them again. And so that's what we did. Again...I do not know much about making blog designs. Why she decided to 3rd party host my images on PB versus placing them on my blog directly. I really don't know why she chose that. And again I didn't know enough about it at the time to even ask So Friday night, I emailed the woman who made my blog. I had lost all her information. But lucky for me... she put a square/link/button on my blog, so I quickly clicked that. And she's long gone. Her website is defunct/no longer alive. I found her email and that is no longer active either. For all intense purposes, she no longer exists. Which sucks because she was the most awesome helpful. Fast computer savvy lady, ever!!! I really really liked her. So, I contacted another person who could fix it and who is in business. But she couldn't fix it until Monday. Given it was Saturday morning Japan time, Friday evening US time...and this was before the house woke up (husband and my kids were still sleeping when I contacted her in America)....and again...my blog looked bananas. I wasn't sure I wanted to wait that long. Because my blog looked THAT bad. It was a real mess.

Noboru told me Saturday evening. After he researched for a few hours. He told me. "I actually think, I can fix this" Again, Noboru had absolutely zero previous knowledge about html or coding either. But he learned. He's smart as a whip and he said it's not actually very hard or complicated at all. And while he did most everything. I too, have since uploaded my entire blog twice since Saturday. But Noboru gets 99.999% of the credit. He asked me to copy the code that makes my blog...my blog. So, I copied the html of my entire blog. I emailed it to Noboru's laptop. And from there, he created his own TEST blog. It's all private. But he downloaded my blog down there and started switching out all PB links and manually started putting them down to my blog directly. He put my header on my blog directly. It is not hosted by any 3rd party. And he started going through each html line by line. Code by code. Switching. And then he would email me back the new version and I would manually put it back on my blog. Yay ,me....for being able to do that. Considering I am not a techie type person at all. And as of Sunday it looked so so except the area where I write was white, it's usually yellow. And last night...we both stayed up until 11:30pm and he found the part on the html that made it yellow. And got my labels back near each side bar pic. I'm not about to make this post a mile long. But...it's honestly just reality. It's truth. And it's the DISASTER...that we were left picking up after PB did that to millions, including me. Is my blog back to 100% right now? Umm, absolutely not! However...considering you have 2 people who knew nothing about coding and html and we were able to bring it back from the brink of death... to even this point...is sorta badass!!! Sorry...but this time..I am gonna toot my own horn. If you only knew what a disaster it all was since last Friday...then you will understand. A lot of folks in internet-land are still jacked up. Still a mess. I'm lucky. I'm lucky in that...I'm married to a man who is my very best friend and who will always jump in to help me out...if I need it. And I will always do the same. : ) Anyways...blog is not 100% yet...but it's getting better each day. I just wanted to touch bases with you. I am sure most of you do...did read the news and knew what was happening with PB. So that's what's up. : )

Anyways...we had Noah's observation day today too. Noboru, Bran and I went. Today is the 4th of July. I did make a coconut cream pie for dessert. And we're having a lame dinner tonight...it's just cream stew. And that's only because I was gone at Noah's school for a good chunk of the day. But...we are BBQ-ing this week. Maybe tomorrow. Anyway...that's enough for now. Hopefully...I didn't write a book. But, I wanted you all to know what's up. And now you do. : )

Bits and pieces...

Is everyone still enjoying the winter break? I know for a handful of my very good friends in the USA, their kids have already started back to school, so for them... their winter break is over. : ( Ours is still going strong here. Branden and Noah do not go back to school until next Tuesday, January 10th.

I know today is Thursday. But with the winter break, I sorta took a break with my weekly TBT, but rest assured... it will be back next week, I promise! What else...

We have been just quietly enjoying our winter break here at home. Watching a whole lot of TV. Reading tabloid magazines (me). : ) Noah reading yet another Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. And Bran has been still studying his brains out. Considering his high school entrance exam is this month.

We are all packed up and ready to go to Hakone for our little over night getaway. I'm telling ya....I cannot wait! I can barely wait to soak at our favorite onsen place. I can't wait to enjoy some of those amazing black eggs/onsen eggs. Eat some delicious egg custard soft serve ice cream. And just basically soak in the amazing rotenburo which is an outside hot spring. The weather will hit 0 degrees C which is...  32 degrees F for us Americans. So it is going to be quite cold and late at night it could grow even colder. And soaking in a nice outside hot spring... sounds pretty perfect to me. We will most definitely eat at our favorite restaurant there...what we loving call "fake Capricciosa" only because their menu is legit the same, big deep fried rice ball with cheese inside and the whole thing exactly, the people who own this place are legit...so nice and we can never remember the name of the restaurant so that's why we call it that. And it's nice...that they have something so delicious while way up in the mountains, the food is so good there. Considering our year last year....granted for us it wasn't a bad year, but it definitely had it's moments. So...we are greatly looking forward to going to the hot springs. Go to the mountains and hot spring area...and just unwind. Eat good food. Soak soak soak a bunch of times in the onsen/hot springs. And just enjoy some quality family time. I imagine we will be stopping at a conbini/convenience store at night and getting a good amount of snacks to take back to our hotel room and just veg out and enjoy our time there. Soon....very very soon, we will be on our way. : )  Last time we were there...we saw a huge wild boar down a road. And we were like @_@...."holy crap, hope he doesn't charge at us and ram our car" lol. So...hopefully we don't run into any angry wild boars...but other then that, we're majorly looking forward to it.  I just painted my toe nails today and trimmed my eyebrows so, I am super ready now. And we're already like I said...all of us are already packed. : ) A trip that will do us all... a world of good.: )

What else...I want to see the movie Silence. I think for us in Japan it comes out/will be released January 21st or around there. And I think this is being released in the US January 13th. This is what it says on IMDB... "In the seventeenth century, two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and propagate Catholicism."...As a Catholic, this looks good and I'm really curious to see this.

I made a great big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup yesterday for dinner last night. And we had a very nice crusty loaf of french bread from the bakery to go with it. Tonight we will finish up the soup with grilled cheese sandwiches on the side. We will be having some peanut butter ice-cream for dessert afterwards.: )

I'll be sure to post something after we get back from Hakone. : )

Summer festival/Natsu matsuri 2014, for our housing community...and getting ourselves on the Honolulu bound flight

Saturday, July 26th, 2014 was our housing community's summer festival/natsu matsuri. Started from 4pm and went to 8-9pm. However since we had a booth and would be selling stuff we had to be there at 3pm. I taped up the signs of what we were selling, see the cardboard sign hanging on the tent corner behind Noah? That was a Coolish ice cream sign, I put up. Cookies and cream or plain vanilla Coolish for 100yen. I sold out of the cookies and cream probably within the first hour. The portable fridge is the metal thing near Noah's arm in this pic. I was selling the Coolish and my teammates one for example was selling the swords. Etc. I also sold a few other odds and ends. I was the busiest mom behind the tables...only because everyone wanted an ice cream...and it was superly hot outside and ice cream was a perfect idea. : )

This is also some stuff we sold too.

Big turn out, the whole housing community loves this summer festival. Noboru missed the majority of the festival, he did come by and say hello, but he was very busy and understandably so...since we had just increased our stay in California by 1 day...meaning we were to arrive now a day early, he needed to alter our reservations at the hotel so he had to book by an extra day...the car rental place had to be added an extra day too. he had a lot on his plate. And to be fair to me...the week had also taken it's toll. I also had last minute stuff I'd like to be at home for... with regards to our flight that very night and yet I was stuck here working this event.  My phone said 97 degrees F but said it feels like 100 degrees F. This has been the absolute hottest July and August in years!!! June was quite cool and nice, but the end of July and start of August has been insanely hot. I did have fun working the event, I did enjoy talking and seeing many of my friends from the neighborhood. But honestly, I would have preferred be at home to prepare for our flight that night. The plan was I was to leave early at 5:30pm. So, I did make a point of working quite hard the time I was there. I handled absolutely every sale of the ice cream before I left. Also my co-VP, like I said in an earlier post...is the one around 5:10pm that said that Tokyo was having fireworks that night, so she told me to just go right then. And I did. : )  So, I did... fulfill my obligation of being fukukaicho/vp. And now...I think we have no kids club event until the Christmas party, so I am *so* totally over that hump regarding my year of Vice prez-dom, thank the lord! Hahaha.
I snapped this pic while I was walking looking for the kids to tell them we were heading home to prepare for our flight, I found them and we raced home! Only a 2 minute walk to our house. : )  Last year, we were selling American food at the summer festival..this year I am VP and therefore had to work this whether I wanted to or not, hahaha. So it's fair to say the year of 2013 and year of 2014, I haven't really got to enjoy the actual summer festival at all...but next year! That's the silver lining there...next year I can go and enjoy and be a customer of the summer festival! : )  Versus working the summer festival. : )

Okay so the next post will be the Honolulu post...not sure if I should break them up in 2 or 3 parts. Because if I keep it to just 1 part...it might be absurdly overly long, you know what I mean. So, hmm, still thinking about that. However let me give you the last bit of Saturday July 26th stuff. The boys and I got home, I put my camera and charger into my bag. Made sure just last minute doodads were finished, packed and out in the suitcase. I then jumped in the shower, washed from neck down..truly had no time to wash my hair, blow dry and hot roller all over again. Just not even time for all that mess! : )  Besides I did wash it that morning anyways. I got dressed and we left...like by 6pm, we were in the car heading towards the airport. Took us hours. By the way...I had not eaten breakfast that day, not lunch or dinner. The kids ate all day and snacked and I made them stuff and they also bought food at the summer festival too. But, I was so busy all day...I was just running on pure adrenaline all day long. Since we live near-ish Narita and we had to now go all the way to Tokyo it took us hours. Hours of driving down skinny roads or there was some bad traffic jam...then the traffic would get better and then 10 minutes down the road it would get worse again. The highways were all red on the navigation so we avoided the highway. Probably the highway was like that... due to the fireworks. We arrived around 9pm or so. Parked the car, we each had our own carry-on, which had our clothes and stuff for the trip. And 2 empty suitcases for bringing stuff back. The line was so long, we checked in at the self check in. Then went to the bag drop off. At Narita and if you're stand-by they take your luggage and you get a standby pass so you can zip through the TSA and whatnot and be near your gate. Not at Haneda though. They won't even take your luggage if you're standby but that's because of their worry of flight weight restrictions. So we waited for hours. She said at 11pm go to lane 15 and there were a ton of standbys. That's when she said if we'd like 2 seats, not 4. Again...what if...the other 2 in our family can't get on the next day or the next after that. So we smartly stayed together. We did walk all the way back to the car put the luggage back in the car. The kids slept the whole way home. At some point while still in Tokyo we stopped at 7-11 and I picked up 1 iced coffee and 1 egg salad sandwich, by now I was starving! We debated...should we try for the mainland, should we cancel summer vacation 2014 altogether then? We finally decided let's just go to Hawaii. We know we can get on the flight for sure, and our priority on the standby list is quite high (not rubbing it in, just being for real) so we know we can get on. Another family did get bumped, trying to get to Honolulu because we got on the next day, we bumped them. Sorry, truly am sorry! : ( But we weren't sorry enough to cancel our trip and give them our seats, either though! The flight was full, not a seat on the plane and they wanted on and we wanted on too. Except our priority was higher, so...hope they got on the next day. I think the day before they were happy thinking... they were so getting on the flight, until we 4 listed on the flight. We also think they were hoping we weren't going to show up for the flight lol, of course we did though. But again this same crap happened with us the day before at Haneda when those 2 dead heads showed up last minute and bumped us. And we had that trip planned for months! So again it wasn't our intention and we didn't feel good about bumping another family of 4...but it just honestly was...what it was. If their priority was higher than ours, do you think they'd give us their seats? Hell no! So us neither.

The next worry was...you know how Japan is 1 day ahead the US, right. well, our next worry was...if we don't get home from our drive back from Haneda. we would potentially be charged for the hotel and car in California, we knew that the day would be changing shortly or had just changed...it was somewhere around 7-10am California time or somewhere around that and the hotel says 24 hours advance notice for cancellations... so we truly were down to the wire with regards to cancellation time. Yikes! And also another worry was...you can't make online reservations the day of...for say a hotel room or car rental. Not quite sure why you can't but hey. So we tried to get back home as fast as humanly possible without of course putting our lives in danger or Noboru in danger of getting a speeding ticket. We got home, the kids went to their bedrooms right away. And I turned on my computer...it was 2am or something. Noboru had his laptop on. And first he canceled the California reservations immediately! Next was find a hotel in Hawaii before the days change there. We started going through Trip Advisor rooms and Expedia rooms and he checked his private Delta employees discount thing online too. So yeah we used both computers in the living room. My favorite hotel in Honolulu is the Ala Moana Hotel. It's new or refurbished. I am comfortable staying there...it feels like you are on vacation staying there. Noboru meanwhile loves the Illima Hotel because they offer free parking and he likes that the rooms are huge. I meanwhile hate that place, because... while yes it is spic and span clean, it's stuck in the 70's, the rooms and hotel badly needs a revamping BIG TIME! And frankly I don't feel like I am on vacation staying there at all. Just being honest...not a fan of the Illima sorry! The Ala Moana was totally booked except for a room that allows up to 2 people and only had 1 king sized bed...just not enough room for the us 4 at all. We wanted a room with high reviews from fellow travelers (ie, clean, safe, friendly (not rude) staff) same stuff most people look for in a room. Also we wanted under $200 US a night. And some rooms in Honolulu can be around $400-$500 US. So, we wanted under $200. The good thing about us, is we don't have to pay for expensive airfares, so our flight getting there and back in free. And so all we have to worry about is, hotel and food and whatever things we bring back. So our expenses are much lower... than say the average Joe or Jane. So in that respect, we're pretty lucky.  And we have only been bumped once in all our years and that was the day before on the Haneda flight. Again though, if we had no obligations such as the summer festival or haunted school, we could have altered our travel dates..but since we had to physically be in Japan those certain dates, we were just stuck in a catch 22 regarding getting ourselves to California. Can't change days..because of the obligations... we had zero flexibility. So, no wonder it happened. Anyway we found a good hotel, with 2 full/double beds. The price was perfect...$125 US a night! Which was under our budget. They did charge $25 for a parking fee... but that's pretty much every hotel you pick in Hawaii unless of course you stay at the Illima. The reviews were excellent and it was newly refurbished. The only draw back was they were not available our last night. @.@ So we took the hotel for all our days except the final day/night...we found another hotel the final day. The final hotel we picked was slightly higher in price $150 US, and they charged $35 for parking. Again though...this is Hawaii and not the mainland US so hotels are gonna be higher and the parking fees while crazy are pretty common. Plus...again beggars can't be choosers...you know that old adage. I mean...we were leaving the following day and not like we had weeks to find a hotel, so we booked that room too. We turned out loving both hotels! I'd rec'd anyone to stay there and I'd definitely go back to either. If pushed...I'd say the 2nd hotel was my most favorite. But both were amazing. 2 thumbs way up on both the hotels. I'll give names of hotels and all details in the actual Honolulu post. After the hotel rooms were booked and rental car was booked in Hawaii. We both went to sleep. Absolute exhaustion. I washed my face and hit the hay.

Next morning we stayed home...we stayed home all day until 3pm, we were all freshly showered and ready for our flight. Our flight was to leave at 7pm. But of course we want to drive to Narita, park our car at the car baby sitters place and were shuttled to Narita International Airport, which is why we left the house at 3pm. Love Narita Airport, being stand by... they took our luggage gave us stand by tickets and we breezed through the TSA and downstairs and stuff quickly since we were early. We waited near the gate. I was skype messaging with my dad off and on some. Because he knew about the vacation switch. He worried if we'd get on. And Noboru was again...watching his employees page on his tablet. And he saw our seats as they were issued online and we just waited for them to call us. We got seats in first class. And about a minute later she called our last name and Noboru went and got our tickets. We boarded around 6pm-ish, Sunday July27th arrived Honolulu around 7-7:30am Sunday July 27th hahaha. They are the seats that lay flat like a bed, so I was in one seat, Noah was behind me, Branden was behind Noah and Noboru was last, we purposely "book-end" the kids in like that... so I am watching them from the front and Noboru is watching them from the back. Just to make sure they are okay and safe. When they closed the boarding doors...is when I felt this huge cloud of worry disappear. When we started rolling down the tarmac, I felt so relieved...let out a huge exhaling breath. I did message my dad as soon as we got our tickets so he wouldn't worry. I then shut my phone off and kept it off the entire trip...no email checks...no nothing. Noboru will check his emails while he's away, Line with his coworkers a couple times. LOL. I...am just different...I take a break from all internet. Huge meteor could be coming straight to planet earth....I'd not know...if I was on vacation. : ) It just helps me unwind by not being connected, I feel more connected to my family, more connected to the whole vacation experience, while not being connected online. So, I just don't connect online at all, while on vacation. You would think I slept the entire flight away. But I honestly didn't sleep a dot. I was just relieved...we were FINALLY on vacation. Also there were so many new movies that I hadn't seen yet so I watched 3 movies on the flight there. Branden also didn't sleep a wink. I periodically looked back and Noah was awake for a lot of the flight but I'd say he slept for about 3 hours of the 7 hour flight. Noboru slept about as much as Noah did also. But I'd wave at Bran 2 seats away and he'd wave back..or I'd have my eyes fixated on the bathroom door when the kids went to the toilet...just making sure...there's no creepy person lurking (just being protective is all). Of course there wasn't but...just makings sure. : ) I watched Divergent (I have this DVD on order since June but I wanted to badly see this, I saw this first)...The Other Woman (Cameron Diaz) and Labor Day (with Kate Winslet)..Divergent was excellent and I am so glad I ordered this! The Other Woman was so hilarious...I laughed quite a bit. Labor Day was so good but would you believe...because our flight was landing I missed the last 5 minutes. He was arrested and then what? Seriously then what? What happened? That has happened to me before on a flight...it was an excellent movie though. Would just love to find out how it ended. lol. : ) Alrighty, now... you are all caught up with everything except for the Hawaii trip. But as we are heading out to Guam today...I'll be a bit delayed again. Sorry. : )

Update...

Branden’s first ever semester final for JHS is tomorrow, June 26th. For the last 2 weeks Branden has been in serious study mode... kicking butt on the syllabus given to them 2 weeks ago. What sections/specific parts will be on such and such test (Social studies, science, English, etc). Testing wise his JHS tests he does reminds me *a lot* of how I tested in college/uni in the US. So..yep...he’s been working so freaking hard on his studies and I know he's going to be super happy after tomorrows tests are over and done with!!! Good luck Bran....kick it baby!!! Kick booty on all your tests tomorrow! : )

Weekend getaway this coming weekend. Ahhhhh (sigh of happiness, lol.) Relief. Boy do all of us need this! This whole month of June has been just super crazy. Seems we haven’t had a real 2 day weekend all month, isn’t that sad or weird or both, hahaha? First weekend of June was the kids club thing, which was fine. 2nd week of June was the swimming competition, still so proud of you Noah, you amazing little swimmer and diver you!!!! ; ) Last weekend, I was at a yakuin meeting from 7-9:20pm (June 21st). @.@ Whole evening just spent talking...making decisions of prices for the things we will be selling for the summer festival next month. The box of stuff to sell that we ordered already, had arrived and we went through it (glowy stuff, plastic swords that light up, water guns, idol cards for older kids, tons of other stuff) Should we charge, 50 yen, 100 yen, 200 yen? Man, we went through item by item. Again so many behind the scenes stuff happen before the summer festival. The bright side is...I don’t have another yakuin duty/job or meeting until July 19th, when we have the fireworks!!! So, now I am free for about 3 weeks at least. So...yay me for kicking butt at the meeting last weekend. : ) Phew. So yeah...we are all really greatly needing this weekend, you guys. : ) It’s just a little 1 overnight hotel stay near-ish Mt Fuji, but that’s okay because we REALLY could use a break.  : )

So something to look forward to... for this coming weekend, for sures. Goodness we need it, superly need it...just saying. : )

My dad...he is flying out Wednesday morning Denver time. Making his way to Japan and then to Guam. So, I will be tracking his flight via online and making sure he has a smooth trip. : ) So for us in Japan time, he is leaving for us.... probably around 10pm tonight... he will be either in the air from Denver to MN and then on his way to Japan then Guam, what a long flight to get back “home”, like I said though...around 9pm-10pm tonight for us in Japan is when his journey should be starting, he has an extremely long flight so good luck dad and have a wonderful trip, watch tons of movies!: )

Weather wise...It’s been raining off and on all day yesterday and today, where we live. : )
Alrighty, enough from me for now. : )

The busiest week I've had in a long time (work, observation day, undokai rehearsal, a Costco run) Randoseru bought, and a new level in Kumon

You ever have a week that's so busy, that it seems everyday you have a million things to do, that need to get done. And you frankly wonder, "will I survive this week?" That pretty much describes the week I just had last week. : ) On Monday, last Monday, after sending both Branden and Noah to school, one with an obento. I came home, hung laundry, cleaned the house for an hour. Then I went over my 2 lessons that I'd be teaching the next day. I went over them and over them saying them in the kitchen. After that, I had prepped dinner, set the timer on the rice, etc. And then went and did my afternoon pick ups. Dropped of both the boys at Kumon. Ran home started dinner, when my cell rang, it was the boys, they were done. I said, I'd be there in 5 minutes, they know not to leave the building until they see my tiny red car. Which is what they did. Ran back home, they got unpacked and I served dinner. After dinner Branden started in on his school homework. I meanwhile opened my lessons for the next day again. Went through them one more time. I sent the boys to shower, and pj's. And then they rested and watched TV. Noah has been watching TV upside down lately. : ) Noboru came home. Ate. Showered. Tuesday, I woke up, got dressed, put my makeup on. Flat ironed my hair. And put my work clothes on. Fixed breakfast, made obento. Noboru was to drop the both of them off, he was more then willing to. In fact he wanted to make Noah's obento, but Noah was worried about daddy's obento. : ) Poor Noboru. I did dress Noah in his gym uniform and packed him an extra shirt since it's undokai practice. And I left. I drove 1 hour to the hoikuen I teach at. Met my teaching partner in the parking lot, we went over the lesson. This particular school, we leave out the role play. Good morning-ed everyone as we walked in. The kids saw me...Gina sensei....Gina sensei! I waved and got all smiley. Went upstairs and we waited for the kids. They came in. Taught the younger class first. I pretty much rocked it! Went through vocabulary. Sang songs. Went through, the ol' "may I have your name please" which city do you live in?....do you have any brothers..do you have any sisters. Just the little things I go through which each kid, so they are comfortable answering and stuff. They left, I high fived everyone as they left the gymnasium where we teach at. Good bye..bye..see you...buh bye...bye, see you. I must say that 100 times a day at least. : ) Got ready for the next class. This went so well too. They're the older class, they're all very similiar to Noah's age. Half this class is 5 years old and half this class are 6 years old, so same as Noah's age. About 50 kids again. Went through the whole thing. At 11:15, it was over, high fived everyone all over again. Went downstairs, chit chatted with the principal as we usually do, my teaching partner and I. This particular principal. He LOVES America. I mean like really. He says he has tons of books on American culture you name it. And if it's American he has a book on it. He always wears an English T-shirt and this time his shirt read...Converse an American original. He loves the fact that he has an American teacher teaching there. This time, he wanted to talk about....the musical Wicked. We then spoke about the Wizard of OZ. Then the subject turned to Halloween. To Star Wars @_@ not sure how we ended up on that. Then to vampires. I have to be a jack of all trades chit chatting with the principals. Especially this guy. Last time he wanted to chat about...because of obon about to happen that time, he asked about how often I visit my family grave in the US. @_@ When I lived in Denver, how often did I visit. This guy is so interesting to talk to. Around 11:50am we left. I took off my sneakers slipped on my ballet shoes, waved to the principal. My teaching partner and I left, we walked to our cars. She drives a Prius. I hopped into my tiny red car and left. Went to the store. I picked up the miso pork. 60% of the time, I make my own miso pork, but if I'm busy like I was that day, I don't mind buying the kind at the store already marinated. Just makes my life easier. : ) Which I did. Picked up Noah. Noah, myself and the miso pork went into the house. I put the pork into the fridge. No laundry hung that day, so I did 1 load and used the dryer. Switched clothes. Put my hair into a pony tail. Vacuumed and that was it for that day. For dinner, we had miso pork, rice, veggie and the boys had miso soup. Noboru had a swing shift so he couldn't eat with us.
Every evening on the Foodies channel. How it's called here. Not to be confused with the Food Network in the US. Anyway, every night I have been watching.."Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Or something like that. They go all over the US. Find comfort food. Not fancy restaurants but good simple American home cooking type places. I love this show. And Mon-Fri, I always check at 8:30pm to see if it's on. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. This was Rosie O'Donnell. She was eating there the morning this show was taping there.
The turkey, mashed potato and stuffing dinner.
They said, they roast 2 turkeys every day at this particular place. Yumm. The seasoning on the turkey looked so good.
Another restaurant, American style southern fried chicken. Yumm.
All the country side dishes. Homemade mac and cheese.
Wednesday, was the day we would run to Costco and do a few other errands in the Makuhari area. I was on a time crunch since I had to pick up both Branden and Noah. So, first thing that morning, I quickly made onigiri for Noah since it was onigiri day. Our Catholic yochien has onigiri day every other Wednesday, the lemon tea coin bank collects money and gives it to the less fortunate. They really do send money to different countries because they send letters to our yochien. I read the letters because they're in English and they do post them in the genkan at the school.
Ran to all the spots we had to beforehand. And at 12:30pm, we arrived at Costco. Noah gets out of school at 2pm. Thank goodness, we signed him up for Kagai that day. And he had a set play date to play with his best friend. So, he would play there until 3pm with his best friend. Noah does kagai about once every other week and plays with his buddy's. We still knew we had barely zero time to be at Costco. So, we looked ridiculous because we basically ran into the store, ran through the upstairs, took the escalator with huge cart downstairs and ran all over down in the basement level at Costco. Within 30 minutes or way less we left. Felt like in 5 minutes. : ) 1 Halloween pumpkin. The pumpkins never really look all that fresh to me. I know it's the best they can do, they are brought all the way from America. But many at the store had moldy tops. I usually buy 2, but the looks of these, I bought just 1.
1 box of waffles.
Pasta sauce and dinner rolls.
Popcorn.
And a pizza for dinner.
We picked up Noah at 3pm. Barely barely made it. We just live too far and that's even with the highway and the expensive toll fee. Branden got out at 3:45pm, so we went directly from yochien to the Plaza with food still in the car. It was raining buckets. After all that running around we were exhausted. However Noah had swimming. We quickly put everything away. And after swimming we came home whacked this pizza in the big oven and had dinner. Quick dinner that night. After showers. I let the boys take the first bath of the Fall season. They soaked and I heard them playing upstairs in the tub, singing and splashing. I meanwhile was going through all the things I had to do the following day. I was asleep by 10pm every night last week.
Also can't leave out Noah. Noah passed a test in English reading and writing at Kumon. He is now a level D. Which is quite high.
We work quite hard on their studies. I work on the English with them here at home all the time. I read to them nightly. They each have an English workbook. That is made by teachers and it's a full years curriculum. It does science in English, American history in English...math... verbs, adjectives. homophones. You name it, Branden's learned it. And Noah is learning it. Plus the English Kumon, and I love it because they get to study English and see others study it too. It's all self study so at each persons pace. But seeing others do English is positive for them. And just because I'm an American doesn't automatically mean they'll be English natives like me. But they are....they are 100% bilingual. Speaking, reading, writing. Little American accents the whole shebang. So, I must be doing something right. : )
And he didn't just pass, like barely. He passed 100% out of 100!!! Right on Noah, and yes we are proud of you! Rightfully so!
These are the bath powders I picked. From different famous onsens. The boys enjoyed the hot bath Wednesday. But, I waited until after getting through Thursday. I knew Thursday would be my most busy day. So a hotbath here at home was my reward to myself for Thursday.
Thursday morning. Made breakfast times 2. Made obento for one. Got myself ready. Flat ironed my hair, makeup, got dressed. And ready for working/helping out at Noah's yochien. The oldest class is the sakura-gumi/class. Then we have bara and yuri-gumi.
The kids giving speeches to start off the undokai this year. 1 red hat/1 white hat from the oldest class this year and Noah was picked!!! : ) He's been practicing his speech for 2 weeks now. Bless his heart. I was so proud.
He's also the one leading the entire school in the taiso/exercise. One white hat, that's Noah and 1 red hat will lead the entire school. Yes, Noah is really in the undokai a lot this year as a lead role! Which means he is definitely a good kid! Again, I was so proud.
I saw the entire undokai rehearsal. @_@ I saw the teeny tiny class do their dance number and clapped. Saw the middle class do theirs, clapped cheered. Saw the oldest class, the Sakura class do theirs and I also cheered and clapped. I talked to many mothers.
Then the final race of the year. The one everyone looks forward to all year long!!!! The entire school relay. From youngest to gradually the oldest class. Who is closing this year? Well, if you see the white sash Noah is wearing you'll know he is the anchor for the entire school's white team. Yeah talk about pressure right? Wink wink. : ) At 11:05am, the undokai rehearsal was finished, but they were lingering talking. They all knew I had to get to my town for Branden's observation day. So, I threw on my necklace name tag for our town. Ran to Noah, he knew beforehand though...I said, "mommy has to go to Branden's school now" told a few mom's good bye. And I hopped in my car and quickly got myself to my tiny town. I keep a pair of slippers in my car at all times. So, I grabbed my slippers, with name badge around my neck, parked my car, ran up the hill to Branden's elementary school. Signed my name and ran up 2 flights of stairs.
The boy next door in the red long sleeve top. And Branden in the navy top in front. Branden's favorite subject is math, so he asked me to show up for that particular class.
I watched the math class for the entire class from start to when the bell rang. Branden smiled at me twice, I smiled at the boy next door, a fast wave at Daisuke, and A-chan. I was there. I made it! I went to work that week. I ran to Costco that week. I took the kids to Kumon, Noah to swim club. I managed to make obento daily. Make breakfast daily, and dinner every evening. I showed up for the undokai rehearsal, and I even showed up for Branden's observation day. I did everything I was supposed to do last week. Granted I did not clean the house as much as I usually do during a usual week. I also didn't work out but twice last week either. : ( *But*...I survived the week and that's the silver lining. I did not let anyone down, not my kids, not the yochien, nor my kids I teach. Seriously, I should have high fived myself. : ) After leaving Branden's school. I went home, prepped for dinner. Then swung back to the city to pick up Noah, then went all the way back to pick up Branden. Back and forth, back and forth. : ) Then dropped the both of them off at Kumon. At this point, I was beat/tired, flat out pooped. Brought them home. emailed my dad....I said, "I survived...I have seriously bloodshot eyes, but I made it. : ) Now I am going to make dinner." I made dinner. They ate, Branden did homework. They showered. And you know while they sat watching TV relaxing. I went upstairs. Tied my hair up. Quickly showed, washed my makeup off, soaped my body and rinsed. I then set the bath. The thing I had been longing for. Looking forward to. A long hot soak with some bath powder. Bliss.

In other news. Noah's randoseru, has been bought. Randoseu are the Japanese backpacks that kids in elementary school use and carry. They are quite expensive. You can pick, leather or something that looks like leather. The one thing most people worry about is, the weight of the backpack. Real leather can be very heavy for kids especially when you also add the books. The ones that look like leather, always show how heavy the backpack is when you buy. Because the weight of it, is a concern. Also if you choose real leather you will have to take care of the leather, conditon the leather etc. Which if you don't mind. That's fine. The ones that look like leather are, waterproof and with living in a typhoon prone country and moldy country, we picked nonleather for Branden. It was handmade, just as pricy as real leather but we've loved it. Branden's we bought in October or November of his last year of yochien. When the school sent out the catalog. Now this time around, the yochien gave us 4 yochien backpack catalogs at the end of July. Took me off guard wasn't expecting the catalogs that soon. Noboru's coworkers, , 2 of his coworkers have kids Noah's age. They both said they bought their randoseu in August??? @_@ It was a cheaper time of year, they said. Yadayada. I did not buy in August. Noboru suggested we do. But I wondered would I buy last years model? Not that it matters but.... Hmm. I held out. Though I was looking. I knew the particular color I wanted for Noah. And the style. I looked for month's. I found 3. 1 was real leather. Noboru said, please don't pick real leather it's going to be a real pain if we get that, you'll see. I sort of agree. So, that one was out. I kept debating the last 2. And finally we picked. We picked Noah's randoseru mid September, it is the 2012 model, the new ones came out in September. It is SO cute! It is handmade, being made in Osaka. Will be shipped here to our home at the end of October. We've been getting weekly emails from the company making it. On the progress of Noah's backpack.

So, all in all, we've just been so busy. Especially all of last week. Superly busy. The mini hot bath at home, was so appreciated by me last Thursday night. : ) Another thing that kept me going, was the thought of our trip to Hakone. And the Disneyland trip. Work hard... play equally hard, right? I kept thinking...you'll pull through and next week you can soak and not have a care in the world. That very thought kept me going strong. : )

Monday, dropping off grandma and buying some Halloween pumpkins! : )

So the day after Noah's undokai. This Monday of this week. Branden still had school. Poor kid had no weekend either, he went with us to drop off and pick up Noah Saturday the day before undokai and then the next day he spent it at undokai with us. So, he didn't have a weekend either. None of us did really, but the positive and the bright side is, we are now done with all undokai's for this year! Woohoo! So a definite plus. So, Monday Branden went to school. And Noah didn't have school since he had undokai. So after we dropped off Branden at school, grandma Mitsuko, Noboru, Noah and I went to Chiba New Town. Once there, we dropped her off at the train station and from there she was heading to Haneda airport to fly back to Osaka. She hugged me, Noboru and then hugged and kissed Noah. And walked into the train station. After we dropped her off at 9:10am or somewhere around there (her train, she was taking was at 9:17am I think.) We headed directly to Joyful Honda, about 5 minutes away from the train station we just dropped off grandma Mitsuko. They sell small, medium and big size Halloween pumpkins, I realized that years ago and blogged that when I first realized that. They're also pretty cheap for Japan. 980 yen for the bigger ones. And we bought 2 of them. We usually vary and flip flop sometimes we buy from Costco and sometimes we buy from here. Just depends on the year. The one thing I do like though about buying from here, is the pumpkins here are from Japan so they are fresher then the ones found at Costco. I have bought the ones from Costco and they come from the US and ours rotted a teeny tiny bit on the bottom last year because it was cut so much in advance. Granted it's to be expected. But, the ones cut in Japan are really fresh, ours here we have now are so firm. Plus they're a couple hundred yen cheaper. The ones at Costco are 1280 yen or something like that. Either way is fine and we'll still probably buy from Costco in the future too (we still love Costco pumpkins), it's just nice to have options and not just 1 place to choose from is all. Anyone ever grow any themselves here in Japan? Noboru and I were thinking maybe we should try and grow some for next year.
With 2 pumpkin heads nicely in the car and some ricotta cheese in the car with some dry ice. We went across the way, about a 3 minute drive to the Big Hop Mall. Chiba New Town has 2 malls. Big Hops an outlet, the other mall has Gap, Laura Ashley store and a whole bunch of stuff. We just wanted lunch. That's all.
Mall opens at 10am and we were right on time.
I had ordered the 6 inch veggie delight and baked fries and a soda.
Noboru and Noah had ramen and fried rice sets in mind. : )
Noboru hates onions, which is why he has all the onions placed on this tiny saucer. He had ordered his ramen with no onions but they forgot. He complained about it and the guy offered to make him another one, but he said forget it. And plucked the onions out himself. ; ) I love onions so I just don't get it. But there's stuff I don't like to eat also, so I understand.
Monday evening, we were still sort of unwinding from all the undokai business/stuff. So, Noboru, Noah and myself went with Branden to swim school Monday evening. And he passed to a level 2 in swimming. We were pretty proud. I had wished I had brought my camera and it figures I didn't bring it the one time I really needed it. ; ) Anyway that's what we did this past Monday.

PS, I just have to say and I wasn't going to mention it but..... Last Thursday, I had mentioned in the comments section I was having a lunch date with my friends that day. Anyway. This is sort of funny and I probably shouldn't say this but..... So, Thursday, after sending both kids to school, I happily got myself all dressed. Did my hair really super duper. Makeup on. Spritzed some perfume on. And even wore sparkly silver ballet shoes that matched my outfit that day. Wide leg jeans, black shirt and gray cardigan. You know some days you just feel, "wow I really look good today" well Thursday I felt that way. So, there I went, kissed the hubby, he said have a nice lunch. And I went driving in my car to the restaurant. Half the parking entrance was blocked off, how weird I thought. Anyway I squeezed my car in the parking lot. Meet up time was 11am. My girlfriends are always on time, so am I. 11am rolls around. Nothing. Hmm, I thought. 11:03am rolls around. Traffic maybe? 11:05am rolls around, now I start to worry. So, I call Noboru and ask him to read my email from the Jogo-san. Perhaps we were to meet up at 11:30am instead. Nope!!! He started laughing and said....you have your lunch with them tomorrow!!! Not today! OMG! How freaking and completely embarrassing! So, I laughed and was red faced...but drove out of the parking lot. Noboru joked with me all night on that one. Friday morning, the next day, he said...are you sure it's today?! LOL. Alright I said. ; ) So, I did go to my lunch Friday and I did tell them my girlfriends during lunch what I did the day before. And they laughed quite hard at me for that one. I was laughing too. They said, this restaurant is closed the day before. And I said..yeah so that's why the parking area was half closed off. And there I was trying to pinch my car in. LOL. Well....I think my husband must have definitely married me because I make him laugh. : ) That's certainly the reason I married him. Anyway, I did enjoy my lunch last FRIDAY. And you know...I didn't look nearly as cute on Friday as I did on Thursday.: ( My hair didn't look as good as it did the day before etc. Hmm.

Anyway, to add to this story of my most embarrassing blunders. So you know, last weekend we had zero weekend, Noah had school Saturday and Sunday we woke up freakishly early for undokai. Monday, dropping off my mil (mother in law) getting the pumpkins, and swim school until 7pm. It's no wonder lately I've felt a bit tired and a bit out of sorts. I haven't mucked up the kids schedules at all. I do check my calendar everyday to make sure. One of my worst nightmares is mucking their schedules up. And yep, I've done that a time or two. But...here's the kicker. So, Tuesday was a normal day, sending the boys to school, cleaning house doing laundry. And Tuesday evening after I made dinner....I realized we are very low on food. So, I decided to go to the store the following day and get our weekly shopping done. Checked my calendar on the fridge, nothing written on there. So, Wednesday, made obento, breakfast and got both Branden and Noah to school. Wearing yoga pants, sweatshirt and trainers. I did brush my teeth but I think I just finger combed my hair that morning, zero makeup. I had my shopping to get done you know. So, as soon as I dropped off Noah, I am on the road to get to Cainz. It is a long drive. I had music playing in the car. I'm singing along. And I finally make it....finally. I'm just about to cross the bridge and I can see the sign in the distance when my cell phone rings. It's probably Noboru, I think. I won't answer because I don't want a ticket. I glance at my phone and I see the name on my caller id come up...Jogo-san. @_@ Oh goodness, it must be important. I better get it. I hope a cops not around. Driving down the road. "hello?" She says....Hi Gina, we are at the movies waiting for you, are you running a little late? We haven't bought our tickets yet" Just then this huge realization hits me. I had a movie date today! Today MUST be October 20th! How could I forget that? Holy goodness, she's still on the phone. What did I say to her? I was just completely honest....I said...."I totally forgot, it is 100% my fault. I am VERY sorry. I apoligize, I was looking forward to going to the movies with you two very much. And I don't know how I could forget such a thing. However I am at the Cainz (she knows how far that is from the movies) I am wearing sweatpants and I could still possibly have sandman's in my eyes. Please go on without me, I am so sorry. Please enjoy the movie." Jogo-san being amazing...laughed and said, okay and not to worry, and I also told her to apologize to Namiki-san for me. Of course I will apologize face to face to both of them. But man...how could I forget a thing like that? Hind sight is 20/20 of course. I wish I would have written it on my calendar in the kitchen. I wish I would have put the info into my phone/keitei. I wish.....I wish. I wish I could have remembered and done the day differently, thus enjoying the movies with my girlfriends. I was bummed Wednesday. And it was all my fault.
So, I arrived to the Cainz. Feeling like a horrible human being for forgetting my movie date. : ( Went inside and started shopping. Forgot about it a few aisles of my shopping and then remembered down another aisle and felt horrendous again. : ( It's amazing how we can be hardest on ourselves, can't we? I was really pissed at myself. Then I forgot and must've got back on track of my shopping tasks. And then at the check out counter, there I started thinking about it yet again. Drove home. Unpacked the groceries. Did some laundry, and prepped dinner. Set the rice cooker. Folded laundry. Noboru called me, and I told him. At first he was like...how could you forget that...and then he was like....you've been so busy lately no wonder something was forgotten. I made curry that night. And by dinner time, as I was still feeling quite badly about it.... Noboru told me, I shouldn't be so hard on myself. I'm human. I realized he was indeed right and I forgave myself. I did see the Jogo-san on Thursday at the yochien and I apologized face to face. And she is so down to earth, she laughed. She was not upset at all. In fact she said she saw lots of trailers for new movies we can see together. Phew. I was relieved. I think the things that I learned or realized this week, is everyone gets fried once in a while. Things gets hectic every once in a while for us all and it just happens, in my case......from mid September to mid October was my busy time. I think I did really well considering and I handled all my hurdles well. Granted it would have been perfect had I not forgotten the movie date. But.....afterall I am human and it happens, Can't be perfect all the time. And I'm far from perfect to begin with. Anyway...that's the tale of how I ended up at the Indian restaurant a day before and forgot my movie date completely. @_@ : ( Now things are winding down now that all undokai's are finished. And I am starting to feel back to my old self once again. : )
