I have never seen "The Way We Were" It was mentioned on SATC once in reference to Mr. Bigs marriage to Natasha (was that her name?) Anyway, I thought since it's supposed to be a classic love story maybe I should at least catch it. Jon And Kate Plus Eight, season 1,2 and 3. I have caught a few episodes on Youtube and in hotel rooms while on vacation, I really like this family a lot. : ( The Boy in Striped Pajamas, The Uninvited, Bride Wars, Confessions of a Shopaholic, He's just Not That Into You, And Coraline for the kids. The boys watched Coraline on the flight back to Japan, they loved it. : )
Just some strawberry pop tarts unfrosted. Some Lucky Charm type cereal, but the store brand, they taste the same and it's cheaper so why not save a few bucks buying the cheaper store brand, we don't mind in the least, we're not picky. You know the Chex mix type stuff? Cheerios has snack mix stuff like that now too. The Honey Nut kind, we bought 2 bags and the regular Cheerios we bought only 1 bag. Those are really good. Baked Goldfish crackers, chocolate, cinnamon and honey. Baking cocoa for baking this coming Fall. Baking cups for cupcakes or muffins again thinking for Fall. Frosting but got the Whipped Cream kind, this is so good. Gum for Noboru and I. The Mentos gum too. And cinnamon.
A case of movie theater popcorn bought at Costco. A tiny 3 pack of homestyle popcorn. And 2 packs of toffee peanuts.
Not very authentic perhaps, but we love Taco Bell. So, we bought a good amount of Taco Bell seasonings, they're cheap and very light to just throw in a suitcase. 2 packs of Buffalo Wings powder. Some fajita seasoning packs. Some Taco Bell hot sauce again not so authentic maybe, but hits the spot for my American tastebuds. : ) Some pinto beans for making tostadas for this coming Fall. And some pasta.
Just a few more comfort foods from home (the US : ) Miracle Whip for sandwiches and macaroni salads and potato salads etc. A few packs of buttermilk biscuits. Some Velveeta shells and cheese. Some Rice a Roni. Comfort foods from home, absolutely, you betcha! Sliced pickles for burgers or grilled cheese sandwiches. And some of my favorite Italian dressing. The flavor of this dressing is so yumm.

A pair of size 8 jeans for Branden from the Ralph Lauren outlet. Again sorta thinking about Fall. And knowing how he wears regular clothes to school, meaning no uniform like Noah does, we knew he'd need these. 1 pair is a start at least. Gotta start somewhere. : )

Noah used some money from the card grandpa had given him for his birthday. He got 2 games and 1 pack of stylus pens. He only spent $50 or a little under actually so not too bad, he still has birthday money left.
And although it wasn't a birthday this was the 1 game/toy Branden got this trip. We usually only let them get 1 each trip. Noah only got 2 because he had birthday money.
Two cups. One we got at DFS (duty free shop) It's cute because it has a pineapple drink with umbrella pic, pic of flip flops, tropical flowers and palm trees. It will be a good coffee cup or carrying around some iced mango tea around with me, when I run my errands once the kids start back to school next month. And the other one I got at Starbucks. I like the seasonal or limited time only Starbucks cups. I have a Cherry Blossom one from Starbucks I got 2 years ago. I have the regular Starbucks cup and now I have this Aloha Starbucks one, very cool.

Shu Uemura has been making my favorite concealer. I have repurchased it countless times. A wand type concealer. I last bought it at DFS in Guam, last year maybe? Anyway it was really nearly out, we're talking nearing the nitty gritty here! I went to Sephora and asked for Shu Uemura. Shu Uemura wasn't carried there except for the eyelash curler?!!! They said try Neiman Marcus. After doing some shopping in Sephora, I mosied myself down to Neimans. After making a brief stop at the Kiehl's counter. I headed to the Shu counter. I showed her my concealer and asked for a replacement, easy in and out purchase I thought. Wrong! They don't make it anymore she said, it's been discontinued. So she suggested if I wanted a good concealer that conceals practically every under eye circle to man, get the high priced Cleu Du Peau (from Shiseido) I heard of the brand, I haven't just fallen off the makeup bumpkin truck. I read Instyle magazines March Best Of Makeup and Skincare issue like clockwork for years, I know what's up, I thought. LOL. I told her...yeah but that line is really outrageously priced right? She said, "yes it is but you know before he died, Kevyn Aucoin called that the best concealer. I read that in Instyle I told her. But I've never tried it. She said would you like to try some? I said sure why not. So I sat in her chair and she put it on me. That concealer REALLY worked. I mean geeze it covered every sign of a dark circle. I was really surprised and no I don't have serious dark circles just the normal kind everyone has. How much is this I asked. $70 dollars she said. Now if you know me. You know I am a girl who likes saving money. I like cutting coupons. I like finding a deal on food or clothes or DVD's, whatever. Wild splurges is so not me. A true Target girl I am. Spend thrift that's me. Wild spender, I'm not. So, I really debated buying this. But in the end I got it.
I needed it in the fairest color they had, in ivory. She color tested me. LOL.
Even now I cringe looking at this receipt but, it was my one big splurge for myself. 1 extremely high end concealer. It better be worth it. : )

A Korres lip gloss made with a pinch of cherry oil. The color is a nice berry shade. It's from Greece, picked this up at Sephora.
The main brand I use Mac. I like Mac the best, because the colors are so good, so real and natural, great pigments meaning the colors don't fade out and they're affordable. I just got 1 powder foundation, have used this forever. Since I was like 20 or 21 or around there. And got 2 Mac concealers, one pot type, one wand type. These more normal priced concealers I'll use everyday. The Clea Du Shishipoopoo I'll save for like school pictures where the family all has to take pics with the kids or for stuff like that, but I will use it. : )

Basis cleansers are on my blog a few times. I know that for sure. The Basis wipes are available at FBC and I ordered them once around Thanksgiving one year, so I know when I bought 3 packs of them around Thanksgiving they were on there. And the basis cleaner has been on here before too. This has got to be my most all time favorite cleaner. My dermatologist rec'd them to me when I was a teenager. They are a drugstore brand no shishipoopoo here. Simple effective and affordable. Always bought them at Walgreens. Then they stopped carrying them in the Denver area Walgreens. Now it's really hard to find these cleansers. I used to buy in Hawaii or buy from Drugstore.com. I had been wanting these for so long. I got the tube cleansers and the bars at the Longs in Pearlridge. And the wipes at Ala Moana. Again not fancy or anything grand, but they're my favorite and by gosh I wanted them. So lug them back to Japan, I did, I did.
Some Kiehl's products, some heavy duty cream for my feet, elbows and knees for Fall and Winter. A tube of zit cream. A small bottle of face wash, doubt this will beat my favorite Basis one but I wanted to try it at least. And a Mango lip balm. I use that lip balm on me and the boys.
From Target we have the Dove green tea body wash and the St Ives citrus body wash, since it is still Summer here in Japan and hot, so I like a nice citrus body wash. Persa- gel cheap drugstore zit cream, this way I am covered at least I have 1 tube from Kieh'ls and the Persa-gel. I rarely get zits maybe 3 times a year most or if I'm surfing the wave like most women get, you know, but at least I will be covered if it comes. The Bag Balm I got from Long's drugstore, it's a cheap/affordable heavy duty cream for my feet, elbows and knees in the winter (same as the Kiehl's one) And the Guava body soap came from DFS. And a face scrub for my weekly face scrub. Yes, I do take really great care of my skin though, that's one thing my mother always taught me and it imprinted on me. Doesn't matter high end or low end. But I do take really good care of my face though. And overall body and fitness. I am not perfect but by goodness, I never let myself go after marriage and kids, that's one thing I am so happy about.

The other key chain will go on one of the boys bags, either school or swim, I'm not sure which one yet. Flip flop jelly beans, these are in my bag already. : ) And some pens for me when I go to PTA meetings and such and need to write down notes.
Toothpaste, lemon kitchen hand wash, Shea handsoap for the upstairs sink in the laundry room. Toothbrushes, girly razors for me for shaving my legs. Tampons, a multi pack. And a yeast infection kit. I buy the generic yeast infection kits, they work the same as a fancy shmancy name brand one. The no name was $10.00, where the name brand ones were like $25-27 depending if you want the 7 day or 5 day or 3 day treatment. Again to save a few bucks a 7 day treatment is more then fine for me. I am not picky. Granted I hope between now and the next 2 years, when it expires, I won't need it but it gives me peace of mind for just in case. And a big honkin' box of over 200 Mountain Fresh Safeway brand dryer sheets. That should last the whole of winter, I hope. : )

2 cups, one for each kiddo, they're basically the glitter cups except they say Hawaii and stuff. A snowglobe with aloha girls in it that is sitting on B's desk in his room. And some pencils for B and for some of his classmates.
From the Dole Pineapple plantation. Milk chocolate pineapple crunch. They looked so delicious to me and I wanted our friends to get to enjoy them. The bracelet with warrior for Branden. And 2 key chains for the kids, one for each, they have their names written on. The kids were really excited to get them personalized like this.
So cute. : )
Size 10-12 this is for B. It's a tad baggy but he can wear this a long time. The sizes were pretty hard to shop for, because they had 6-8. That was too small when placed against B's body and it might have only been worn a month. Looked too small already. Putting it this way, a 6 year old would get lots of usage from a size 6-8 but an almost 8 year old would get barely zero usage from a size 6-8 size shirt, do you know what I mean. They don't make an 8-10. Only made the next size up as 10-12. So that's why we had really no choice but to get Branden's in the size 10-12.
And same hard size for Noah too. They had 2-4. And placed up against his body it looked teeny tiny. And the next available size was 6-8. They weren't as huge as they sound. They actually looked not bad at all. So we paid less attention to what the size said and more attention to what it looked like on the kids.
These are for the kids. Noboru got an extra for Noah because he has messes. B oddly never really made much of a mess when he was Noah's age or younger.
Target finds. 2 pair of house shorts for next year for Noah. Size 4T and 5T. They were on sale a deep sale. We're talking Nishimatsuya prices. And 1 tee for Noah for next year in size 5. And I got this really cool makeup bag. It looks like a freakishly large change purse. LOL. I love it. Hubby thought it was so cute.
This tag was on my makeup bag and I felt it was very witty and so true! "You shouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg to mousturize one" Amen to that, I thought! I totally agree.
Branden has clothes for summer in size 7 and he's getting no more. Over spending no thanks. But, since we were at the outlet, I did look for stuff in sizes for next Summer. I found these cute shorts in size 8 for B for next year.
Nope no big shopping trips, just 1 or two from a few stores. These 2 things from the Children's Place are the only things we got for the boys from that outlet. Shorts for B and a hat for Noah. His shorts were 9 bucks and Noah's hat was $3.00 and some change.
They didn't have a Gap outlet but we hit the Gap in Ala Moana anyway. Noah got the brown tee and matching sweatshirt for Fall/Winter in size 4. Branden got 1 sweatshirt in size 8.
I got 2 cute floppy hats for myself. One black and one black and white hibiscus. I didn't get them at a fancy place, I got them affordably at Target and I love them regardless where they come from. They're cute.
Only 2 or 3 things from Old Navy. We really didn't buy a whole bunch of anything really. B got these cool preppy orange shorts in size 8 for next Summer.
The 3 things from Old Navy, the orange shorts for B, the Superman tee for B, Noah has one already and another black sleep tee for moi. Hmm, yup, I got 2 sleep tees this time, one V neck from Old Navy, one ballet neck from Target.
Got a whole bunch of things from Osh Kosh but oddly enough the total was way under $50.00. Seriously. The toal was like $44 dollars and some change.
2 pairs of size 8 house shorts. For next year for B. They were at the end of Summer clearance sale. Cheaper then you'd believe, under 5 bucks. And so it made sense to get them for next year.

I always feel so smart shopping like this. My parents always did this for me when I was little too. Every year I remember before school would start, I'd get great big huge bags of cool clothes from the outlets like Izod and Gap, Banana Republic, Guess, Calvin Klein. All super cute and nice stuff but at super prices. I guess even now that I am the mom, I still have very American ways of shopping still. I love outlet shopping. I will always enjoy getting those good deals. : )
A zippy for B. Size 10. You know when we went to Denver last September, we bought Branden and Noah some sweatshirts at the Gap Outlet. And B got a zip sweatshirt from the Osh Kosh outlet in Silverthrone outlet last year in size 7. Now here's the funny thing. By January 2009, The Gap sweatshirts size 7 fit fine but the Osh Kosh one was way too small. I mentioned it a few times to Noboru. Enough so he remembered. When we went in to Osh Kosh in Waikele this time and I eyed another zippy for B. Hubby said, it ran small last year don't get the 8. I'm glad he remembered that. So, that's the only reason we got him a size 10 zippy sweatshirt.

They actually looked not bad at all. So we paid less attention to what the size said and more attention to what it looked like on the kids.
These are for the kids. Noboru got an extra for Noah because he has messes. B oddly never really made much of a mess when he was Noah's age or younger.
Target finds. 2 pair of house shorts for next year for Noah. Size 4T and 5T. They were on sale a deep sale. We're talking Nishimatsuya prices. And 1 tee for Noah for next year in size 5. And I got this really cool makeup bag. It looks like a freakishly large change purse. LOL. I love it. Hubby thought it was so cute.
This tag was on my makeup bag and I felt it was very witty and so true! "You shouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg to mousturize one" Amen to that, I thought! I totally agree.
Branden has clothes for summer in size 7 and he's getting no more. Over spending no thanks. But, since we were at the outlet, I did look for stuff in sizes for next Summer. I found these cute shorts in size 8 for B for next year.
Nope no big shopping trips, just 1 or two from a few stores. These 2 things from the Children's Place are the only things we got for the boys from that outlet. Shorts for B and a hat for Noah. His shorts were 9 bucks and Noah's hat was $3.00 and some change.
They didn't have a Gap outlet but we hit the Gap in Ala Moana anyway. Noah got the brown tee and matching sweatshirt for Fall/Winter in size 4. Branden got 1 sweatshirt in size 8.
I got 2 cute floppy hats for myself. One black and one black and white hibiscus. I didn't get them at a fancy place, I got them affordably at Target and I love them regardless where they come from. They're cute.
Only 2 or 3 things from Old Navy. We really didn't buy a whole bunch of anything really. B got these cool preppy orange shorts in size 8 for next Summer.
The 3 things from Old Navy, the orange shorts for B, the Superman tee for B, Noah has one already and another black sleep tee for moi. Hmm, yup, I got 2 sleep tees this time, one V neck from Old Navy, one ballet neck from Target.
Got a whole bunch of things from Osh Kosh but oddly enough the total was way under $50.00. Seriously. The toal was like $44 dollars and some change.
2 pairs of size 8 house shorts. For next year for B. They were at the end of Summer clearance sale. Cheaper then you'd believe, under 5 bucks. And so it made sense to get them for next year.
The two pair of house shorts for Branden for next year. I love that we can buy name brand stuff yet get things for on the cheap. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to dress cute. Yay for outlets. I always feel so smart shopping like this. My parents always did this for me when I was little too. Every year I remember before school would start, I'd get great big huge bags of cool clothes from the outlets like Izod and Gap, Banana Republic, Guess, Calvin Klein. All super cute and nice stuff but at super prices. I guess even now that I am the mom, I still have very American ways of shopping still. I love outlet shopping. I will always enjoy getting those good deals. : )
A zippy for B. Size 10. You know when we went to Denver last September, we bought Branden and Noah some sweatshirts at the Gap Outlet. And B got a zip sweatshirt from the Osh Kosh outlet in Silverthrone outlet last year in size 7. Now here's the funny thing. By January 2009, The Gap sweatshirts size 7 fit fine but the Osh Kosh one was way too small. I mentioned it a few times to Noboru. Enough so he remembered. When we went in to Osh Kosh in Waikele this time and I eyed another zippy for B. Hubby said, it ran small last year don't get the 8. I'm glad he remembered that. So, that's the only reason we got him a size 10 zippy sweatshirt.

$3.99 for tee shirts for both the boys. These prices were right close to the price of B's house shorts from Osh Kosh.
At prices that cheap, it woulda been dumb of us not to get one for each kid for next Summer. And we barely brought back any clothes so these 2 weren't bad to bring back. : )
They're so cute tees. Real happy colors. And dug the surf type patches.
These overalls/shortalls actually for Noah. Size 5 for next year said $9.99 but they were an additonal off and we paid 6 or 7 dollars for them in the end.

And the hibiscus hat for B that we picked up at the Aloha stadium. $3.00 even for this. We really didn't spend a whole lot of money on things brought back to Japan with us. Just a few good deals here..... and a few good deals there. That was how it went, we went to Hawaii for swimming, beach time and relaxing, not really for shopping. The only 1 splurge hubby got me was the concealer. The other makeup was Mac and mid range in price. And the Basis face stuff was all drugstore. Yeah we did pretty well on our trip. And we are all really happy with what we brought back. The movies/dvd's are our one major entertainment but other then that we were just as concervative as usual. No holy crap items, ha ha ha! Anyway that's the stuff we brought back. : )
Ahhh, sorry I didn't have time to post about the Summer festival before we left to Hawaii, but better late then never, right? Ha ha ha. : ) : ) These are what both Branden and Noah looked like for the festival. I really love both of their jinbei's a lot, cute! : )
I was busy working the festival for half of it, so Noboru took the picture up above and this pic and the few down below. I think he did an okay job with taking the pictures. : ) The parents of the little girl closest to B asked to take a pic with both the boys. Their dad was taking pictures of the 4 of them together. So that's why Noboru also took this picture as well. : ) The little girl is the little sister of Branden's friend. Both B and her brother are the same age and are good buddies and went to yochien together and swim together as well. Their mom and dad are both REALLY nice people. Good people. So, anyway those 2 were really pretty girls, ne. Can't believe they're blue badges already.
The kids were in the "game" room and getting to pick out their bag to hold their treats in. The lady helping Noah with the really pretty long black hair is my good friend Mayuko-san. : )
The boy's got a lot of help from my friends and also Noboru was right there too taking pics and helping. I was meanwhile on the other side of the room, working the ball throwing game with Jogo-san and Rieko-san. Passing out prizes to all the kids and Jogo-san and I were to cheer the kids on as well and pass out the prizes. If the kids got 2 balls in the box, they got a certain prize and if they only got 1 ball they got a different prize and if they got no balls at all, they still got a prize. Which was pretty nice. But we had to watch and keep track in our heads and then pass out the prizes accordingly. How did I like it? I honestly LOVED it. It didn't even seem like work at all. I saw so many kids. Kids that have long passed graduated this yochien but that I knew from when B used to go there. It was really cool actually. And of course all the new kids, Noah's classmates, I knew too. When our hour and a half was up. We didn't even know it. We were so busy clapping and saying...."Gambatte, come on you can do it! Just one more ball" And then ahhh, better luck next time" (In Japanese of course) and then passing out a treat. And if they got all balls we'd hoot and holler and clap. We laughed so many times during this game it was funny. How did we know our time was up? The next group, our replacement ladies came in with their aprons and we looked at each other and said...."is it time already?" Ha ha ha. And don't get me wrong we both were happy to be able to spend the remainder of the festival with our own families, so we were happy..... it's just time went by so fast. It was fun though. : )
I was glad to see Noah did the fishing game outside. This happened while I was inside working. Noboru took this. : ) That's one of the sensei's helping with this game. : )
And happy that Branden tried this game as well. : ) Look at that big bag of stuff Branden had won during the festival. Both the kids had a lot of fun. : )
This was the activity room. This was what the other group did. It was really fun. The kids all got to create with either stickers, markers or crayons their own little charm or tag. They were also heated up and covered in plastic. Branden made one with his name and a bunch of Pokemon stickers. Noah stuck stickers on at random, but he likes it. And then they were laminated. I thought that was pretty cool of the other group to come up with that. All the kids enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed watching the kids create their own little laminated charms.
I was so very thankful that I worked the first half, because I got to enjoy watching the kids dance for the second half. All those colorful yukatas and jinbeis. One reason I love the Natsumatsuri so much. To view all the cool and colorful outfits. : )
After the kids were in their nice little neat rows by badge/class. They started forming a circle. The sensei held Noah's hand and started stretching out the red badge class to help form that circle, meanwhile the pink badges were also forming the same circle and same with the blue badges.
When I snapped this picture of Noah, I didn't really realize at the time. But when I got home and went through the pictures, I realized the little girl in that gorgeous red yukata happened to be Noriko-san's daughter. I really like this picture because it has both of our younger kids in this picture. And she's a very good friend of mine so it made me happy. And that yukata she wore was stunning, a very beautiful color, she looked absolutely beautiful. : )
And now the kids are starting to dance. You can see all the kids including Noah has their one hand up and bent. : )

And in this pic, I see Itsuki-chan wearing that beautiful blue hibiscus yukata. Ahh, I really do enjoy Summer festival to get to see all the Summer outfits. *happy sigh* : )
And of course we had to get a pic of these two good buddies. Noah and Chi-chan!!!
Some of the stuff the boys brought back. Not counting the laminated tags and other things. But the 2 bags with treats and the armor (made of cardboard, shhh : ) And the sword made of newspaper and part of a pet bottle, tin foil and tape (shhhhh, ha ha ha : ) But the kids loved them. : )
We watched our last 2 DVD rentals for July before heading off to Hawaii as well. Ponyo and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The kids LOVED LOVED LOVED Ponyo. So much so, we will go and buy the DVD probably. And I really liked Benjamin Button, so much so that I caught myself thinking about that movie the next day.
